Dr. Shawna Green, DVM Owner, Medical Director
Dr.Green was born and raised in Virginia, but moved to Florida in 1990 to attend Eckerd College. After graduationg from Eckerd, she attended Vet school at Virginia Tech and received her DVM in 1999. She has been practicing in Pinellas County for the past 11 years. She is a strong believer in the importance of the human-animal bond and a supporter of numerous animal rescue and service organizations. She is an avid promoter of numerous organizations including: Southeastern Guide Dogs, Save Our Strays, Project Pup (Pets Uplifting People). Dr.Green has committed the practice to holding an Annual Dog Wash with proceeds benefiting a pet rescue or service organization in the area.
Dr. Zoe Wilkinson, DVM Veterinarian
Dr. Wilkinson graduated from Louisiana State University in 2004. She’s lived and practiced veterinary medicine in St. Petersburg ever since. Her professional areas of interest include feline medicine, geriatric medicine, behavior, and dermatology.
Born and primarily raised in Louisiana, Dr. Wilkinson was always “doctoring” the family pets, rescuing strays and baby birds. After initially pursuing a liberal arts degree, Dr. Wilkinson realized she wanted to become a veterinarian while volunteering at the New Orleans animal shelter. She worked as a veterinary technician for three years and became a founding member of a local trap/neuter/release program for feral cats while completing the pre-requisites to apply to vet school.
In an effort to achieve a work-life balance, Dr. Wilkinson became a relief veterinarian after the birth of her first child. She subs for several practices around town, and has been a regular Medicine River for about two years. She is a bit of a news junkie, and her hobbies include cooking, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She lives in Gulfport with her partner, two young children, 6 cats and 3 dogs.

Jill Williamson, CVT Head Technician
Jill hails from Grosse Isle MI and moved to St. Petersburg in 1989. 13 years ago Jill decided to pursue a new career path and attended St Petersburg College and graduated with honors with an Associates of Science degree in Veterinary Technology. After passing the national test and becoming a certified veterinary technician, Jill worked with another local veterinary practice as well in an emergency clinic. Jill then assisted Dr. Green in the opening of Medicine River Animal Hospital.
During her 13 years, Jill has become a mentor to many different technicians that have volunteered or were employed by Medicine River Animal Hospital. Her patience and guidance has been appreciated by staff and clients alike and many have benefited from her knowledge and expertise.
At home Jill, can be found gardening, attending to her butterfly garden, playing with her daughter, scuba diving with her husband Bill or attending to their 4 dogs, 2 cats, 2 pigs, 3 chickens and turtles.

Christina Donlay, Office Manager
Christina was born in Anchorage, Alaska but was raised in sunny Gulfport, Fl. Since 1998, Christina has been working the field of veterinary medicine. Starting out in Charlotte N.C., then moving back to St. Petersburg in 1999 and has worked on Dr. Green’s staff since then. She helped open the previous Medicine River location and again was instrumental in getting the new location set up and operating. Christina has a special rapport with clients and is able to assist them with almost anything they need. She also has a certain flair for talking sweetly to some of our canine friends who don’t want to cooperate.
Christina shares her house with her husband Kirk, 2 teenage daughters, 7 dogs and 1 bird. When not working Christina enjoys visiting with family, NASACR and anything to do with the Florida Gators.
Nicki Denni, CVT Veterinary Technician
Nicki knew at an early age she wanted to work with animals. She works with animals to assure that they can have happy, healthy lives. While in High School she started volunteering and attended the Vet Assistant program and obtained this certificate when she graduated from high school. She also works at a local kennel as a receptionist and kennel associate taking care of boarding animals.
Nicki just recently graduated from the Veterinary technology program at St. Petersburg College, earning her Associate of Applied Science. She will be continuing her education and starts classes toward earning her Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology. She has a personal interest in animal nutrition and behavior and would like to pursue certification in these areas as she continues her education.
Nicki shares her house with two dogs, Suds and Gizmo. She enjoys scrap booking and loves free time after spending so much time studying for school.

Courtney Kuntz
Courtney is from St. Petersburg, Florida and is studying at St. Petersburg College in the Veterinary Technician program. Courtney started working with animals when she was 16 years old and has dedicated her time to making sure that animals are the happiest and healthiest they can be. Her interests include surgeries and Nutrition. While in school she has volunteered at the SPC and has helped head up a rabies clinic in Brentwood, TN. Courtney spent a year in Tennessee working for a holistic veterinarian learning more about Chinese herbs and alternative treatments.
Courtney has four furry babies that include three pugs (Kali, Mojo, and Kona) and one Catahoula Mix (Fisher). When she isn’t studying for school she enjoys going to dog parks with her dogs and watching football and currently has a great time giving Christina a hard time about her gators. ROLL TIDE!
Gaye Haygood, Receptionist
Coming to us from Cartersville ,Ga., Gaye has been on staff since 2006 after having been a client for two years. Animals have always played a major role in Gaye’s life, large and small. After growing up on a farm and becoming a “Gaye of all trades” from Decorative Artist to Doggie Chef, she has found a passion working with animals especially in the area of nutrition and food therapy. Gaye assists Dr. Green in addressing client’s needs with regards to food and steering clients toward healthy diets for their pet. She researches the latest information as it relates to special diets to help animals maintain healthy weights and assist in disease management.
Gaye earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Georgia. She has a special knack for dealing with conflict and assisting clients should any problems arise. Clients and patients adore her fine Georgian accent and appreciate the specialized customer service she provides. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband, gardening, reading and playing with her two perfect dogs and her crazy parrot.
Cindy Salinsky
Cindy Salinsky is a resident of Largo and lives with her husband and their 3 cats, Petey, Bentley, Domino and their dog, Ginger. She currently attends the Veterinary Technology program at St.Petersburg College. She is a member of Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and Red Rover Animal Rescue. When not involved with animals she enjoys traveling in her RV, cross stitching, gardening and reading.
